About me

Bonnie O'Brien, massage therapist and bodywork specialist in Andover

Hello, my name is Bonnie — welcome. I’m a Massage and Bodywork Therapist based in Andover, Hampshire, specialising in Fascia-Focused Therapy and trauma-informed bodywork.

I'm also a mum of boys and live a busy, active life — but I always make time for myself, and I believe that’s essential to health and wellbeing.

Before having children, I ran a successful restaurant where I took great pride in creating a high-quality experience. We were award-winning and known for our service and care — values I carry into my bodywork practice today. But it was becoming a mother that truly changed my path.

My personal journey into bodywork

Like many of the clients I now work with, I’ve lived with long-held tension and patterns that I didn’t fully understand. I experienced trauma in childhood, and it continued into adulthood — shaping how I held myself and how I felt in my body.

It wasn’t until I began training in trauma-aware and fascia-focused therapies that I truly recognised what I had been carrying. My body had found ways to protect me — tightening, bracing, holding on — and I didn’t even realise how much until I began this deeper work.

Becoming a parent brought these patterns to the surface. It was a turning point that not only led me toward healing myself, but also ignited a deep calling to help others feel safe in their own bodies.

The meaning behind Willow

The name Willow came from a place that felt deeply aligned with both my own journey and the work I now offer.

The willow tree is a symbol of healing, resilience, and quiet strength. It does not resist the wind—it bends, adapts, and endures.

In many ways, this reflects what I have experienced within my own body, and what I see in the people I work with every day.

The body holds patterns of stress, trauma, and life experience—often quietly beneath the surface. It adapts, protects, and carries us through. But over time, this can lead to tension, restriction, and a sense of disconnection.

Like the willow, the body is not fragile.

It is adaptable, responsive, and capable of change.

The figure within the tree represents this connection—the body supported, held, and given space to soften. The roots reflect the deeper layers I work with: the fascia, the patterns, and the history held within the body.

My practice has evolved through years of working with people from all walks of life, and I hold a deep sense of gratitude for every person I have supported. Each session has shaped the way I work and deepened my understanding of the body’s ability to heal.

But this work is not just about me.

It is about the space we create together.

Each session is a shared process—one where your body is listened to, not forced. A space to slow down, to notice, and to allow change to happen in its own time. I don’t “fix” the body; I work with it, supporting what it is already trying to do.

I continue to learn, grow, and listen—allowing each treatment to be guided by the individual, rather than a fixed approach.

“Rooted in Healing” is more than a tagline.

It reflects how I work, and how we work together.

I believe the body holds its own wisdom. When given the right space and support, it knows how to unwind, rebalance, and restore.

The body remembers, the body adapts—and given the space, it also knows how to heal

Professional training and approach

I began my bodywork training in 2018 with the School of Bodywork in Exeter. Since then, I’ve trained in a wide range of therapies including:

Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage - School of Bodywork

Fascia Informed Bodywork - Emma Gilmore

Pregnancy Massage - School of Bodywork

Women’s Health & Scar Tissue Release - Emma Gilmore

Advanced Level 4 Remedial Massage - School of Bodywork

Oncology Massage - School of Bodywork

Sharon Wheeler's ScarWork - Body in Harmony

In 2021, I began training with Emma Gilmore — a leader in Trauma-Informed Fascia Therapy — and graduated with distinction in 2023. I’m currently continuing advanced fascia studies and am keeping up to date with current research and skills.

Fascia holds our physical structure together, but it also holds our stories — every injury, every overwhelm, every moment we’ve had to “just keep going.” Over time, this creates tension and imbalance that can affect not only our body, but our emotional and mental wellbeing.

How I work

My approach is gentle, respectful, and rooted in deep listening. I don’t force the body; I work with it. By meeting the nervous system with care, we invite it to feel safe — and that’s where true change begins.

I help people with

Chronic pain and postural imbalance

Stress, burnout, and nervous system dysregulation

Tension headaches and sleep issues

Long-held trauma or emotional overwhelm

ScarWork Therapy

Clients often say they feel seen, heard, and deeply restored after a session — and that means everything to me.
